…Not the only country.

I saw this on my live feed on facebook today:

“America: the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment – yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 31 TV stations. 99% of people won’t have the guts to copy and repost this!”

… America isn’t the only country with these problems. We held a benefit for Haiti because at the time, Haitians needed all the help they could get. They had just been struck by a terrible tragedy, which was made even worse by the fact that they are one of the poorest nations in the world.

If it pains you that much to give money to people in need… just don’t. But don’t make others feel bad for giving their hard earned dollars to someone who needs them more. I know many people, myself included, who donated money they couldn’t REALLY spare, for whatever reason. But we did it anyway. Even if it meant being a little behind. We did it anyway.

And wouldn’t you want the people in Haiti, were they able, to do the same for the United States if the role was reversed? I know I would.

Coming soon…

I decided a while ago that I needed a way to be accountable for what I ate every day. I really didn’t want to take over my personal blog with posts about food. So I decided to open a food blog. I’ve tried doing this before, but always fell short. I’d do it for a few days/weeks and then completely abandon it. This time I got my food blog it’s own domain. lol. I think this is my way of saying “Ok, time to get serious! You spent money on this shit!”

So here soon, I’ll be opening INMYBELLY.ORG. I had Kristie make me a header, and Alice is coding for me. (I love you both.) I’d do it for myself… but.. uh. I fail. Big time. What took Kristie like less than an hour took me 18 failed attempts over a week. And it was no where NEAR as good.

Anyway. I just wanted to let you all know that I’ll probably be spending a lot more time over there than I do over here. I plan on doing food reviews, recipes, photo updates, and I’ll be trying to post what I’m eating every day. I’ve tried to get in the habit of taking a picture of each thing I eat/drink, so that when the time comes to blog about it, I have those pictures on hand. And it’ll be nice when I get my new camera next month, I’ll be using it every day.

Sooo, I’m going to go eat my PB&J and drink my juice and find something productive to do!
